Balloon Fun

A neigbour of ours has a hot air balloon and every summer he launches it right from his house at least once, creating a lot of excitement in the area. (Note the date of this posting - quite significant !)

Canada Day 2007

Cai enjoyed being patriotic on Canada Day - July 1 - this year being the 140th anniversary of the formal unification of all provinces under that national name.

Summer is here

Sure signs that summer is finally here :

The lilacs are in full bloom

with the bees buzzing around in them gathering pollen

and the Canadian Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio canadensis) butterflies visiting for nectar

Johanna's high school graduation

On the evening of Friday June 1 we celebrated Johanna's grade 12 graduation at a dinner and convocation ceremony in Edmonton. About 340 students graduated so along with family and friends there were about 2,500 peole at the event. Quite amazing.
Above Johanna and Bronwen ready to head out to the event.

Cai was also in on the festivities with his own baby tuxedo.
He looked so dapper - as if he was off to the Oscars !

Cai and Johanna (above) and Cai waiting for the soup to arrive !
(He certainly stole the show and became quite a "celebrity")

Mort's Tree

Having posted photos of Simon's tree a few days ago I was reminded - and inspired - to put something together about another very special tree - Mort's Tree. Here are a couple of photos taken in December 2005. Below is the URL for a web page about the tree that I have just posted to our web site. Enjoy !

Simon's Tree

Johanna, Bronwen, Brenan and Jeremy were in BC for the long week-end and they called at Trinity Western to visit Simon's tree.
Johanna bought a beautiful bunch of roses which she placed under the tree.
